On the occasion visiting Japan of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Vietnam Department of Defense, led by Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien, visited Japan's leading ship manufacturer - Japan Marine United. Here, the Deputy Minister also had a meeting with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.

Mitsubishi Electric is known as one of the leading Japanese corporations, operating in a wide range of fields, such as Satellites, Factory Automation, Air conditioning, Data Centers, Home appliances, etc.

Based on the good cooperation relationship of Vietnam - Japan in the field of defense, through the opinion that will contribute more actively to peace and stability of the region and the international community by taking advantage of Japan and Vietnam's respective strengths and resources within the framework of "Japan-Vietnam Defense Cooperation: A New, Practical and Effective Development Phase"; At the meeting, Mitsubishi Electric introduced the history of its establishment in the defense field, as well as the defense products that have been supplied to the Japanese government. Answering the question of Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien about the state-of-the-art equipment technology, Mitsubishi Electric affirmed that the corporation is equipping the world's most modern technologies into its defense products, and at the same time, the products are used by the Japanese Ministry of Defense.

The meeting contributes to maintaining cooperation momentum, promoting the exchange of issues of mutual concern, and orienting cooperation areas that need to be enhanced in the future.

Besides the defense product which needs to be followed the “defense transfer agreement” between two Governments, Mitsubishi Electric is being known as “dual-use” manufacture (product used for the non-military purpose) and got the permission from Japan Ministry of Defense for commercial: Satellite, Drone Deterrence System,  Helicopter Satellite Communications System, Shipboard Monitoring System. Since Vietnam and Japan officially signed an agreement on the transfer of defense equipment and technology this year, the relationship between the two countries has been tightened strongly. Overcoming the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two sides closely coordinated and promoted defense cooperation in a comprehensive, practical, and effective manner.
