“MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CUP 2025" COMPETITION RULES


1. Purpose:

  • This competition will help students from Universities in Vietnam to have the opportunity to approach the modern Mitsubishi Electric automation devices imported and distributed by Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam Company Limited in Vietnam market.
  • Students from the Universities, by this competition, can apply the Project-Based Learning method to study a lot of knowledge both major knowledge and soft skills by implementing a project by themselves.
  • Create an opportunity for students from 14 universities can exchange knowledge related to Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation devices.
  • This is a chance to introduce more about Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation from Japan supplied by Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam Company Limited to Vietnam market to students.

2. Structure of the competition:

The Competition will have two (02) rounds:
  • First Round: maximum 140 teams (10 teams/university)
  • Final Round: 21 teams

3. Organizing Committee:

First round:
Each of the 14 (fourteen) below universities will hold the examination committee.
 
From the North:
(1) School of Electrical and Electronics - Hanoi University of Science & Technology (SEEE)
(2) University of Transport and Communications (UTC)
(3) Hanoi University of Industry (HAUI)
(4) Thai Nguyen University of Technology (TNUT)
(5) Hung Yen University of Technology and Education (UTEHY)
(6) Thuy Loi University
 
From the Middle:
(7) University of Da Nang - University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT)
 
From the South:
(8) Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE)
(9) Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH)
(10) Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU)
(11) Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH)
(12) Can Tho University (CTU)
(13) Tra Vinh University (TVU)
(14) Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HCMUT)
 
Final round:
  • Organizer:Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH)
  • Sole Coordinator and Sponsor of both two rounds: Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam Company Limited.
  • The Organizer and the Sponsor will appoint the Organizing Committee and the Council of Examiners to carry out professional work and details related to the Competition.

4. Eligible applicant:

All of the students who are studying undergraduate at 13 (thirteen) above universities can apply for this Competition.

5. Condition for Registration:

Student will register with a Team of at least 02 students and maximum of 04 students.

6. Form of the Competition:

  • In the first round, based on the idea of the registered teams, each university will select 10 teams of itself. Reling on the team’s achievement, the examination committee of each university will choose representatives to attend the final round.
  • Before the final round, each team has to design and implement a practical project. The project must be completed before the deadline that is announced by the Organizing Committee.
  • In the day of the final round, the teams have to show, demo as well as present their models for examiners.
In the day of the final round, the practical project will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
For the top 21:
Criterion 1: The creativity of the project
Criterion 2: The applicability of the project
Criterion 3: The complexity of the model
Criterion 4: Technical Solution
Criterion 5: Environment Protection Solution
Criterion 6: Factory Automation Smart Solution
Criterion 7: The accuracy and stability of the model
 
For the top 6:
Criterion 8: Outlook of product
Criterion 9: Presentation skill
Criterion 10: Understanding of specialized knowledge through debate

7. Other requirements for the participating team:

  • Each team has to design and implement the practical project by themselves.
  • Each participating team will use equipment provided by the Organizing Committee.
  • The practical project should be creative and practical.
  • Total expense for building the practical model of each team (Except the value of Mitsubishi Electric Devices) should not exceed 50,000,000 VND.

8. Requirement of Dimension and Weight of the Model:

  • Maximum dimension: 4 m x 1,6 m x 4 m (WxHxD)
  • Maximum weight in Toal: 400 Kg

9. Awards:

The award includes one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and seven extra prizes.
 
1st Prize Team will receive:
01 MECA Cup;
01 Certificate from Organizing Committee;
VND 15,000,000 in cash.
 
2nd Prize Team will receive:
01 Certificate from Organizing Commitee;
VND 7,000,000 in cash.
 
3rd Prize Team will receive:
01 Certificate from the Organizing Committee;
VND 5,000,000 in cash.
 
Extra Prize Team will receive:
01 Certificate from the Organizing Committee;
VND 3,000,000 in cash.

10. Competition time and location:

Competition time:
  • First round: Oct 2024 – Jan 2025
  • Final round: Within June 2025
Competition location:
  • First round: Each of thirteen universities
  • Final round: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH)
The specific time decided by the Organizing Committee’s plan will be announced by suitable method.

* Changes to the Competition rules and other support will also be announced by the Organizing Committee via the landing page of the MECA: https://mitsubishi-electric.vn/meca-page  as well as on other suitable media.
 
* Students and participating teams must ensure to follow the instructions from the Organizing Committee and promptly notify arising issue.
 
* After the completion of the Competition, the participating teams will return to the Organizing Committee the Products made including the equipment provided for the competition.
 
* Travel expense and Meals during the competition period of time will not be offered by the Organizing Committee except for some cases.
 
* Transportation, Meals, Accommodations expense during the final round of the competition will be offered partially to the teams of universities of the outside Can Tho City by the Organizing Committee.
